Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park is one of the keystones of Steven Spielberg’s career, based on the 1990 novel written by Michael Crichton, this movie is the definition of a summer blockbuster. Not only did it capture the imaginations of people around the world, but it revolutionised the film industry, especially how we use CGI mixed with practical effects. For the time, this was the most scientifically accurate and visually stunning representation of dinosaurs ever seen.

The plot is a very unique idea that laid out the foundation for many sequels, while the plot does differ from the novel, it was still very well adapted and made this film suitable for kids, teens and adults. This wide audience resulted in the film being the highest grossing movie of all time, until it was overtaken by Titanic. The acting was also very good, with Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum both giving stellar performances, with Richard Attenborough giving John Hammond such a vivid personality, and an unforgettable performance.

Evem though there is very little action in the first half of the movie, it doesn;t feel bland or boring, showing just how well Steven Spiellberg directed this movie, even though he was in Poland filming Schindler’s List at the same time. The action and entertainment in this movie are top notch, whether that be the iconic breakout scene, or the suspenseful kitchen sequence, Jurassic Park delivers on all levels.

And who could forget that iconic ending? A triumphant roar from the queen of the island. This movie is a certified masterpiece, and Spielberg at his absolute best. Impeccable movie, 95%.
