Jurassic World
22 years after the original, Jurassic World released, not only giving the franchise a new name, but a new cast, a new park, and new dinosaurs. Jurassic World, unlike its other sequels, was actually a surprisingly great movie. With Spielberg taking a back seat on this one, Colin Trevorrow stepped up for this movie. It is quite hard to judge his directing, because most of this film was CGI, with there being only one animatronic dinosaur in the whole film.
The new cast did a pretty good job with their chracters, however, the people they are portraying are typical stereotypes. This lack of character depth feels like some scenes were forced or just waiting to happen, this inhibited the actors ability to put on a good performnance.
Jurassic World, like every other movie in this franchise, was a huge box office hit, having the highest grossing opening weekend for the time. This film is very entertaining, with some intense action sequences and some genuinly heartwarming moments.
One more critique I have is that it was a billion dollar advertisement, and there are just product placements everywhere. Whether that be Samsung, Mercedes, Verizon, and about 20 others.
Overall, Jurassic World is a fun watch that anyone can enjoy, but if you would rather have interesting characters, it might not be for you. If you genuinely want a good time and want action sequences galore, this might just be your next watch. This film was solid and ranks highly within the franchise, we rate Jurassic World a high 83%.
