The Lost World: Jurassic Park
The Lost World: Jurassic Park is the first of the 6 sequels in the Jurassic franchise. With Steven Spielberg reprising his role as director, this film has the same feel as the original. While not quite as stellar, it still holds up as a pretty fun watch. The plot follows 2 teams who go to a new island, which, unsurprisingly, is filled with dinsaurs. The movie brings us a whole new cast of characters, with Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough returning as their characters from the first movie.
Spielberg did a great job on this one, but the rest of the film lacks, making this movie towards the bottom of his filmography. While the acting is solid, it wasn’t anything amazing, but the side characters seen pretty good and there were still some good performances.
The cinematography was pretty good, with some nice CGI and practical shots, though, it wasn’t quite as good as the original. It starts off very slow, but the action picks up and it just keeps coming back. There are some pretty cool scenes like the raptors in the long grass, and the Tyrannosaurus in San Deigo.
Overall, this movie ranks high among the franchise, and is very enjoyable, but the acting and plot feel quite dull. This is by no means a bad movie, but it wasn’t really amazing, and feels out of place amongst Spielberg’s other films.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park is fun, enjoyable, and the definition of a blockbuster movie. We give it a 77 out of 100.
