Superman
When it comes to bringing comic book characters to life, James Gunn is up there with the best, and Superman (2025) is no exception. We all know him, Superman, the world’s most famous superhero for decades, and this movie fully captures the struggles, responsibilities, and hardships that Superman has to face. This movie was a lot more light hearted and fun than the dark, gritty tone of Henry Cavill’s Superman. This new perspective of the character has mixed opinions among fans, but we think that Superman has akways been used as a symbol of hope and new begginings, rather than death and mass destruction.
The plot, while basic, was executed quite well, with Nicholas Holt giving his all as Lex Luthor, the ultimate Superman hater. Rachel Brosnahan portrays Lois Lane as a sharp, witty and strong character, with some great chemistry with David Corenswet, giving Superman and Lois some great heartfelt scenes together. Furthermore, Nathan Fillion and Edi Gathegi, as Guy Gardener and Mister Terrific, were some great new side characters, and at some times stole the show.
However, I do feel that there were some weird choices of camera work, and I don’t think that James Gunn’s unique directorial style quite landed with me as it did for The Guardians of the Galaxy.
Overall, this movie was a solid fresh start to the DCU, and we look forward to more from this cast of characters. This movie was a very good watch and we would highly recommend watching it if you haven’t already. We give Superman (2025) an 80%.
