Jurassic Park III

Jurassic Park III is an absolute mess. Released in 2001, and directed by Joe Johnston, it is a mjor step down from the first two films. With Sam Neill returning as Alan Grant. The plot follows a kid named Eric who is stuck on an island, and his parents commit check fraud and basically kidnap Alan and his partner at the dig site, Billy. There are so many plotholes and that is largely due to the fact that the movie was written as it was being filmed.

With Spielberg taking a back seat as the executive producer, you can already tell the drop off in quality. As every film in this franchise does, Jurassic Park III needed a new big bad dinosaur, the Spinosaurus, which is very powerful but serves no other purpose than to kill side characters and move everybody around the island.

If I could describe this movie in 5 words it would be “Lots of dinosaur chase scenes” which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it gets repetetive, leaving no memorable scenes even for lifelong fans such as myself.

Overall, Jurassic Park III, is dumb fun, where you can turn your brain of and watch it. But if you are oservant and like looking for details, this movie is probably not for you. Solid, but nothing special, 64%.
