Jaws

Jaws is the film that really kicked off Steven Spielberg’s career, released on 1975 and based off the best selling novel, Jaws inspired multiple generations of shark movies and monster movies. With 3 sequels this movie was a smash hit on release, with some really iconic moments.

The plot is as basic as it gets, especially from a modern point of view. But for its time, this was quite interesting, and the way this movie was executed certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Robert Shaw gives a stellar performance as Martin Brody, and the overall cast of supporting actors did well in their respective roles also. After a brand new release for its 50th anniversary, this movie saw many fans and movie enthusiasts go back to the theatre to go see this cinematic marvel 50 years later.

There were many troubles in its production, with the most prominent being that the animatronic shark was breaking down, prompting Spielberg to use tension, suspense, and clever camera work to get the best of the situation. In the movie, this looks like the shark being marked with barrels, while it sounds dumb, it is still very menacing in the movie.

Overall, Jaws made Steven Spielberg start off his career and go on to make many ther great movies, while being a cult classic, and inspiration for many horror movies and general movies today. After seeing its re-release in cinemas, we think Jaws has aged perfectly, and is a very good movie, even by today’s standards. Overall, Jaws is still absolutely awesome, thrilling, iconic, and mst of all, absolutely brilliant, we give it an 83%.
