FIRST GROWN UPS TWO AND NOW PIXELS? ADAM SANDLER IS REALLY CARRYING THESE LOWER RANKED MOVIES, HUH? Pixels is different to all the other Adam Sandler Slop movies, though, yes, it is bad (as always), but it is more of a CGI slop bad. Why did they think adults would be nostalgic for a movie about a huge CGI Pac-Man, and to be fair, all the other wacky pixelated things in this movie?
It was so clear that they wanted to target this towards people from the 80’s to make it nostalgic, but then filled it with some of the most cringeworthy jokes I have ever watched. It’s not funny to see Peter Dinklage in a mullet; that is not a joke. And you are not convincing me that ADAM SANDLER and KEVIN JAMES are the best video game players in the world. I wish they actually understood this arcade game community that they were trying to serve when making Pixels, because I promise you, they didn’t want this movie to represent them.
Is it CGI slop? Yes, but it also has good CGI I will give it that, and that is the only reason it’s getting a higher rank than it seems it should, but the fight scenes, as they try to “save the world”, just make me question why I watch these movies in the first place, but we are getting better, slowly but surely. On Day 34 of the Movie Munchy 100 Days, 100 Reviews Series, we give Pixels a 34%.
