Avengers: Infinity War

Is Avengers: Infinity War the best MCU movie? I mean, sure, there are other contenders; it’s not my personal best, that would be Winter Soldier, but I have to respect how well done Infinity War is.

Managing to create a movie that has this many characters who all need their time to shine is one of the most difficult things in cinema. I mean, we’ve seen it fail spectacularly in franchises such as The Fast And The Furious, but somehow no character feels undercooked here.

And the action is amazing, from the Battle on Wakanda to the Battle of Titan, you’re always on the edge of your seat, and it has amazing choreography. But Infinity War is great because it’s not just action. Gamora, Nebula, and Thanos all have a great arc, and Gamora’s death is just so sad. Wanda and Vision’s story is just sad in every sense. Tony and Peter’s connection is beautiful, Thor has a brilliant arc, and it is just cool, and there are so many other stories that somehow don’t get overshadowed.

But there is nothing that was more unexpected than the snap. One of the best twists in cinema history, even though it wasn’t even a twist, really. But we were so used to MCU movies ending with the Heroes winning, that it came as such a surprise and was genuinely heartbreaking. I was, of course, annoyed at Star-Lord punching Thanos, even if it was in character. I think there were better ways for Thanos to beat them while still feeling as intense as it did.

Overall Avengers: Infinity War is one of the best ensemble movies of all time, and just a beautifully crafted film in general by the Russo Brothers. We give it an 87%
