Avatar

Have you ever actually seen an Avatar fan? I have no idea why these movies make so much money when they are just the same concept over and over again with minor tweaks to pass off as a sequel. This is why I think they should’ve never continued the avatar franchise.

The original Avatar from back in 2009 had a great world with all of it’s colour and beauty, and the CGI allowed the movie to leave audiences awestruck by just how beautiful it was. No one can deny the argument that the Avatar franchise as a whole the best cinema has ever looked. But what the movie had in beauty, it lost in it’s plot.

While the plot isn’t bad, it just feels too simplistic for a movie that is 3 hours long. Jake’s “falling in love” with Naytiri and the Navi culture felt too quick and cliché, while the whole military vs Navi, meant to show industrial vs nature, somehow felt boring, even with all the action, because it took you out of this Pandoran world the movie creates and back to earth.

Avatar is one of those movies that you love to hate, but still love to watch. It is beautiful in every sense of the word but is sadly dragged down by a mediocre plot. We give it a 70%.
